Ominous Ascent is the second full lenght album of Raffaele Monego as Morning Haze and it comes five years after the previous LP "First Light". The new album wants to be an expansion and a deeper exploration of what was done on the latest EP "Nature Prevails". With the help of several photographers, music was created from pictures as if it was like a soundtrack based on them. There wasn't a central theme to follow at the initial moment of the creative process, neither with pictures nor music. What came out at the end is permeated with a feeling of hope, most of the melodies and chords are melancholy but never poignant. Tracks like "Move Forward", "Higher Purpose" and "Clear Vision" are euphoric, others like "Seen Through Different Eyes" and "Becoming a Ghost" are sad but at the same time warm and hopeful. Obviously in the path some moments of darkness are a must, "Sinking Too Deep" acts as a culmination of nihilism and void.
